My style alternates between unapologetically dressing to kill, and aspiring towards the angelic eeriness of looking like a doll (perhaps that is why the store Dollskill has a name after my own soul). I've always been in love with little girl dresses that make the wearer resemble a doll (does art imitate life, or life imitate art). When I first went to see The Nutcracker a few years ago, I distinctly remember waiting in the entrance hall in the presence of dolled up families, the youngest members of which drew my attention, decked out as they were in faux fur trimmed velvet dresses with long sleeves and buoyant skirts. I can't say for certain that this was the earliest evidence of my obsession, in fact it certainly was not, since my love for gothic lolita fashion reared its veiled head long before, but it did make an impression. I subliminally dream of such dresses constantly. This glittery one, that I ordered from eBay some years ago, is neither velvet, nor faux fur trimmed, but it does make me feel like a doll you might find on your mantel...or in your attic, if we're being honest. And that is strangely aesthetically satisfying.
